Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy technology
Shockwave therapy has become a staple in a majority of lameness practices across the US and Europe — because it works. Shockwaves trigger the body’s biologic repair mechanism by simulating trauma without causing trauma. Essentially, shockwaves work by activating healing response and can be applied safely and easily without the risk of any side effects.

Shockwave therapy is recommended for the management of variety of musculoskeletal disorders causing chronic pain and lameness such as:

  • Suspensory Ligament Disease
  • Bowed tendons
  • Ringbone
  • Bone spavin
  • Splints
  • Fractured splint bones
  • Sore backs
  • Navicular syndrome

Although shockwave treatment is not for every case, it is a helpful tool we can provide — when applicable — to help decrease discomfort and increase healing.

Biologic Effects

  • Vasodilation and new vessel growth
  • Stem cell activation
  • Anti-inflammatory effects

  • Release of neurotransmitters

Clinical Effects

  • Regenerates soft tissue
  • Regenerates bone
  • Reduces pain
  • Promotes faster healing
